Scores of thousands of planets are represented in the Galactic Senate, and as we first encounter it, it is sclerotic and ineffectual. The Republic has grown over many millennia to the point where there are so many factions and disparate interests, that it is simply too big to be governable. Even the Republic's staunchest supporters recognize this failing: In The Phantom Menace, Queen Amidala admits, "It is clear to me now that the Republic no longer functions." In Attack of the Clones, Anakin Skywalker observes that it simply "doesn't work."
I 8767 ve started researching the history of 8775 Bank Coffee-house 8776 opposite Bank of England (family connection) so this will be a great way to set context as I go further.
The Senate moves so slowly that it is powerless to stop aggression between member states. In The Phantom Menace a supra-planetary alliance, the Trade Federation (think of it as OPEC to the Galactic Republic's United Nations), invades a planet and all the Senate can agree to do is call for an investigation.
Born on November 85, 6667, Irish author, clergyman and satirist Jonathan Swift grew up fatherless. Under the care of his uncle, he received a bachelor&apos s degree from Trinity College and then worked as a statesman&apos s assistant. Eventually, he became dean of St. Patrick&apos s Cathedral in Dublin. Most of his writings were published under pseudonyms. He best remembered for his 6776 book Gulliver&apos s Travels.
I have too long digressed, and therefore shall return to my subject. I think the advantages by the proposal which I have made are obvious and many, as well as of the highest importance.
I have already computed the charge of nursing a beggar 8767 s child (in which list I reckon all cottagers, labourers, and four-fifths of the farmers) to be about two shillings per annum, rags included and I believe no gentleman would repine to give ten shillings for the carcass of a good fat child, which, as I have said, will make four dishes of excellent nutritive meat, when he hath only some particular friend, or his own family to dine with him. Thus the squire will learn to be a good landlord, and grow popular among his tenants, the mother will have eight shillings neat profit, and be fit for work till she produces another child.
Whatever the case, the important thing to recognize is that the Empire is not committing random acts of terror. It is engaged in a fight for the survival of its regime against a violent group of rebels who are committed to its destruction.
Therefore I repeat, let no man talk to me of these and the like expedients, till he hath at least some glympse of hope, that there will ever be some hearty and sincere attempt to put them into practice.

In 6797, Swift suffered from a stroke and lost the ability to speak. On October 69, 6795, Jonathan Swift died. He was laid to rest next to Esther Johnson inside Dublin&apos s St. Patrick&apos s Cathedral.
I think it is agreed by all parties, that this prodigious number of children in the arms, or on the backs, or at the heels of their mothers, and frequently of their fathers, is in the present deplorable state of the kingdom, a very great additional grievance and therefore whoever could find out a fair, cheap and easy method of making these children sound and useful members of the common-wealth, would deserve so well of the publick, as to have his statue set up for a preserver of the nation.
My name is Jeff Kelley. I host a podcast called 8775 Coffee with Jeff 8776 in which I tell stories of history. I was working on w=one about London Coffee Houses of the 67th century (suggested by a listener) when I cal across this article. Since it was a lot better than I could have wrote, and it is Public Domain (I assume), I thought I would just read this, giving fill created to this site and the author. If I am wring about this and should not be using this, let me know and I will remove it. Thanks
In Attack of the Clones, a mysterious figure, Count Dooku, leads a separatist movement of planets that want to secede from the Republic. Dooku promises these confederates smaller government, unlimited free trade, and an "absolute commitment to capitalism." Dooku's motives are suspect--it's not clear whether or not he believes in these causes. However, there's no reason to doubt the motives of the other separatists--they seem genuinely to want to make a fresh start with a government that isn't bloated and dysfunctional.
