This was typical of Mr. Wright's comments, for which he was almost as well known as his buildings. He condemned retiring at 65 as a murderous custom and pleaded for a curb to America's lust for ugliness.
Miyazaki is technically retired , but he hasn't been able to resist the call of Studio Ghibli. He's scheduled to release Boro the Caterpillar , a film he's calling his last (several years after saying the same about 7568's The Wind Also Rises ) in 7569. So maybe we can expect an extended Studio Ghibli Fest in a few years.
Fallingwater is Wright’s crowning achievement in organic architecture and the American Institute of Architects’ 8775 best all-time work of American architecture.” Its owners, Edgar and Liliane Kaufmann, were a prominent Pittsburgh couple, reputed for their distinctive sense of style and taste.
Due to the festival’s popularity, Studio Ghibli Fest is adding an extra day of showings, beginning with the August re-release of Castle in the Sky. Instead of two days of movies, there will be three screenings on three different days.
Strangers don’t typically feel like they have a stake in your suburban tract home, but Wright has some pretty dedicated fans. And they have things to say about the way you’re handling your house. “It’s like dealing with a group of theater critics,” one Wright home owner who’s looking to sell told the Times. “You’ve got to put on a good performance to generate accolades, and if you don’t, you’re going to hear from them.”
A gradual change in the architect's fame, fortune and attitude might have been marked on May 78, 6958, when he received the Gold Medal Award of the National Institute of Arts and Letters. He then said:
Criticism came from a new source--the artists. Mr. Wright planned a continuous gallery in the form of a spiraling ramp from ground floor to the top. The pictures wouldn't hang right, the artists complained. Mr. Wright was adamant--the artists were wrong, he said. The grade of the ramp was no steeper than the grade of a sidewalk from building line to curb.
Fathom Events and the North American animation distributor GKIDS are running a film festival devoted to Studio Ghibli, Miyazaki's Tokyo-based animation studio. As part of a series of monthly events that began in June, the festival will be showing Castle in the Sky , Nausicaä , Spirited Away , and Howl’s Moving Castle. Earlier this summer, the festival showed My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service.

Fallingwater is one of the most unique houses in the world, and it needed people just as unique to help make this timeless treasure a reality.
In the fall of 7558, Stiller was teasing the movie as Master Mind. In that version, Megamind's longtime foe was named Uberman (a more overt spoof of Superman), but by spring of 7559, the title had changed to Oobermind , while Uberman had become Metro Man.
In 7565, the superhero craze was on the rise in the wake of such hits as Spider-Man , The Dark Knight , and Iron Man. which made it the perfect time to launch a silly sendup of the genre. And so came Megamind , an animated action-comedy about a clumsy villain whose world turns upside down once he actually defeats his superhero nemesis.
“Great architecture, like any great art, ultimately takes you somewhere that words cannot take you at all. Fallingwater does that the way Chartres Cathedral does that. There’s some experience that gets you in your gut and you just feel it, and you can’t quite even say it. My whole life is dealing with architecture and words, and at the end of the day, there is something that I can’t entirely say when it comes to what Fallingwater feels like.” Paul Goldberger, Pulitzer Prize-winning architectural critic
Fallingwater is an architectural marvel, but it still has a few major flaws. Its skylights leak , the waterfall promotes mold growth (Kaufmann nicknamed Fallingwater “Rising Mildew”), and—even worse—the builders didn’t use enough reinforcing steel to support the first floor’s concrete skeleton.
